Artist Statement
Bailey Rasmussen is an interdisciplinary artist finishing her undergraduate degree in Visual Art, at Emily Carr University of Art and Design. Her primary focus is illustration and fine arts printmaking, specifically stone lithography. Her work is a form of storytelling, deeply influenced by the traditions of Hip-Hop culture and comics as well as by the symbolism, activism, and mysticism of Surrealist art and theory. The subject of her work focuses on the societal weaponization of shame and sexuality and the conflict between individualism and collectivism. You can find her work at Dundarave Print workshop in Vancouver, BC, where she is a member, as well as the Atrium Habit Café during May – June 2025. After graduation she looks forward to exploring artist residencies and continuing to show her work across Canada.
