Artist Statement
Caron Smith enjoys painting landscapes and figurative works in pastels. The wonderful thing about pastels is that they are almost pure pigment, with a little binder. The result of that is vibrant colour that leaps off the page! After moving to Victoria in 2011, Caron discovered the Al Frescoes – plein air painters. Every Friday they gather for inspiration and companionship at various locations in and around Victoria. Caron credits the many fine artists who are members of that group for influencing and enriching her work. She also gives thanks to various social media platforms where she can take classes and keep up with the latest trends in the art world.
