Artist Statement
My study of Ashtanga yoga taught me chanting as part of my practice. That practice lead me to malas – which are beaded necklaces used to count repetitions of the mantra that is being chanted. The practice also lead me to study with lineage holders in India, and the beauty of India has come home with me. Indian Sandalwood is produced in the State of Karnataka, from the wood of the tree. Which also produces an essential oil, whose by-products are used to produce incense.
