Artist Statement
I love people-watching. Faces intrigue me and leave me wondering about lived experience. Colour in my pieces contrasts with the solemness of the internal world and a pressure to present positively to the outside world. My work explores the boundaries of the individual, an internal solitude, and a concurrent longing for connection. Usually I paint women and girls. A focus on the specifically female experience relates to sisterhood and a need for a strengthening of the feminine element in the world.
