Artist Statement
I am often labeled a self-taught artist, though I don’t resonate with the idea of learning as something finished. I see my practice as continually shaped by those who came before me, those who walk beside me, and those who challenge me.
I am also taught by the natural world—in all its beauty, unpredictability, and discomfort. Learning shows up through experience, play, and a deep desire to bring joy and meaning into being. I remain open to it as an ongoing, present-tense act.
I work in mixed media on canvas and paper, using acrylic, watercolour, and an array of complementary materials including pastels, inks, spray paint, and water-soluble pencils. My process is intuitive and responsive, allowing the materials themselves to guide each piece as it unfolds.
Playfulness is central to my current journey, helping me stay afloat above doubt while I rethink ideas of productivity, value, and worth outside traditional measures. As I transition from early motherhood into a new stage of life, my work reflects personal transformation and a commitment to modelling creativity as a realistic, lived pursuit—rooted in curiosity, courage, and continual growth.
