Driftwood/Glass Collages of Land and Sea.

I’m showing with John James Obrien
The creative process I most enjoy is a partnership with the driftwood and shells that I collect along our beaches. While illuminating the grain and shape and the history behind each piece, I imagine a new scene, a new story. I add colour, create depth, turn seaweed into a tree or a piece of wood panel into an ocean sunset. This new story connects the provenance of the objects with a whimsy, or with a promise for an imagined future.
Each piece of art is a celebration of our coast; the beauty and the bounty of what arrives every day to our doorstep. When you take a piece home with you, you are taking the seaside of Vancouver Island with you.
